My Hypnobirthing Birth Story
11 days overdue… yes, 11!! My little girl clearly had absolutely no intention of rushing into the world!
At 41 weeks, I was induced due to concerns that she might be a big baby. This was a decision that I agreed to after using BRAIN (if you sign up to Mollie’s course, you’ll learn what this is!) And, as it turns out… they weren’t wrong!! She was born at 9lb 9oz!
My very calm, quick, water birth plan was now totally out of the window but I still remained positive…
After being induced, my little girly still didn’t want to come and stayed tucked up inside for another 3 days post induction!! But my waters eventually broke naturally, and from there, I put all those hypnobirthing techniques that Mollie had taught me into practice. I used my breathing, stayed as calm as I could, and reminded myself to take each contraction one at a time. It helped that my partner attended the hypnobirthing course with me as he knew what to do and when to do it, which helped massively.
I am not going to lie to you, those contractions were hell, each one hurt like a tonne of bricks crushing my pelvis into tiny bits and I dreaded each contraction but I remembered to breathe, use my partner as support and remember that each contraction meant I was one step closer to meeting our baby.
I was in labour for around 23 hours, but my little lady had other plans. She decided to flip last minute and went back to back and was trying to come face first! All the effort I had put into getting to 9cm seemed wasted, which made things a little more complicated than we had hoped.
Eventually, after a lot of deliberation, the decision was to go to theatre. We were rushed in for an emergency caesarean. This was extremely scary for me as this was not my plan however, I was exhausted and concerned for me and our unborn baby. But even though it was an emergency, my birth experience still felt incredibly calm and special.
As we got into theatre, the lights were dimmed, I played my own playlist, my partner got to cut the cord, and we had beautiful skin-to-skin time together. I felt empowered to ask for these things and knew that I could with thanks to the information from Mollie.
Our daughter was not pulled out but she pushed herself out of my tummy in her own time and my partner even got to video the extremely sentimental moment, which I will cherish forever.

Looking back, I feel so grateful for Mollie’s hypnobirthing course. Without it, I don’t think I would have understood what I could ask for or how much I could influence my birth experience. The course also helped me understand each stage of labour as it happened, so I felt informed and prepared rather than frightened by the unknown. Even when my birth took an unexpected turn, I still felt like I had tools I could use and choices I could make.
And ultimately, the very best thing happened…
My beautiful baby girl arrived, and she is quite simply the best thing that has ever happened to us.
Sometimes birth doesn’t go exactly to plan, but that doesn’t mean it can’t still be a truly beautiful experience.
